Dear Parents,

귀하의 자녀가 올해 파랑새반으로 배정되었음을 알려 드립니다.

Your child is assigned to Parangsae class at Bellevue Korean School this year. 

2025-26년도 벨뷰 통합 한국학교 파랑새반을 맡게 된 최유미입니다. 파랑새반은 초등 1-2 학년으로 구성된 입문반으로서 기본 자음, 모음 학습을 중심으로 기본 말하기, 듣기, 쓰기, 읽기 능력을 골고 루 향상하는것을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 2학기에는 주로 쌍자음, 받침 위주의 학습이 될 예정입니다. 대부분의 학생들이 가정에서 한국어를 사용하지 않으며, 한국어를 처음 배우는 학생들이 많은 학급 특성에 따라 수업 커리큘럼은 한국어 및 한국 문화를 조금 더 가깝게 느낄 수 있는 흥미 위주의 활동들 로 구성되어 있습니다. 

Hello. My name is Yumi Choi. I’ll be teaching Parangsae Class this school year, 2024-2025. Parangsae is an introductory level class designed for 1^st & 2^nd graders to introduce basic consonants and vowels of Hangul. In this second semester, we will mainly focus on double consonants and ending consonants along with a review of what we learned in the first semester. Through this course, students will develop all four areas of language – reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Since most students at Parangsae are from non-Korean-speaking families and are new to the language/culture, our curriculum will mainly focus on increasing general interest in the Korean.

개개인의 수준과 학습 속도를 고려하여 맞춤 수업을 제공하며 언어 습득이라는 공동의 목표로 반 학생들이 서로 협력하 고 의지할 수 있는 따뜻한 배움터를 만들고자 합니다. 매주 언어 학습과 더불어 한국 문화익히기 및 놀이 활동이 골고루 준비되어 있으니. 학생들이 수업에 빠지지 않고 참석하여 즐거운 시간 함께할 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다. 

Your students will be provided with modified instructions that align with your child’s needs. In our classroom, students will grow their language skills and interests while collaborating with other students. Every week our class will be full of fun and engaging activities that students would never want to miss. It will also include cultural classes providing one of kind opportunities to learn Korean Culture as well as hands-on activities. I hope every Parangsae student won’t miss any single opportunities and enjoy the classes together.

<안내 말씀, Announcement>

* 1~2주 동안은 원활한 수업 진행을 통해 반 이동이 있을 수 있습니다.

Classes can be changed for the next two weeks. 

* 교재는 같은 교재를 가지고 오면 됩니다.

Textbooks will be the same so make sure to bring them all. 

* 특별활동을 등록한 학생들은 이번 주 (1월 31일)부터 수업이 시작됩니다. 

Enrichment classes will start this week on Jan.31st. 

* 학기 초에는 학교 앞 주차장이 혼잡하니 좀 더 일찍 서둘러 주세요.

The drop/pick up line will be crowded at the beginning of the semester, feel free to use the parking lot behind the school building.

* 매주 수업 후 학교 웹사이트와 이메일을 통해 지난 수업 내용/안내말씀/숙제를 확인하실 수 있습니다.

*  매주 숙제가 안내 될 예정이며, 학생의 실력과 여유에 따라 완성해 오길 기대합니다. 또한 수요일마다 추가 숙제가 있습니다.

Weekly assignments will be notified; we expect students to complete them according to their abilities and available time. There will be extra worksheets on every Wednesday.

* 29회 교내 말하기 대회가 3월에 있을 예정입니다. 참가만 해도 상장이 수여되니 많은 참가 부탁드립니다. 참가를 원하시는 분은 저에게 이메일로 연락해주세요.

29th Speech Contest will be held in March 2026. All participants will receive an award, so I encourage everyone to participate. Email me when you want your child to participate.
