Learning our Consonants


ANNOUNCEMENTS + REMINDERS:


Please make sure that students bring their writing notebook and workbook (given on the first or second day of this second semester) to class every day! They should be taking it home every week as well.

There will be enrichment classes starting this upcoming week (02.24.24)! If your child is registered for an after-school class, they are to be picked up at those classrooms at 1:30PM. If your child does not have enrichment class, please come pick them up from our class.

WHAT WE DID IN CLASS:
- Once again, we reviewed our vowels (아 야 어 여 오 요 우 유 으 이) 
- We then learned a few consonants (ㅇ,ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ, ㄹ, ㅁ, ㅂ) we focused on the stroke order of writing these letters!

- Along with vocabulary words that use include the 10 basic vowels and consonants:

오이 (oh-ee) cucumber
아이 (ah-ee) child
여우 (yuh-ooh) fox
요요 (yoh-yoh) yoyo
우유 (ooh-yooh) milk
나비 (nah-bee) butterfly
고기 (goh-gee) meat

토마토 (toh-mah-toh) tomato
나라 반 (nah-rah-bahn) class Nara
다리 (dah-lee) leg(s)
머리 (muh-lee) head
누나 (nooh-nah) older sister from boy
오리 (oh-lee) duck
무기 (mooh-gee) weapon
모기 (moh-gee) mosquito

- We played a game in groups of 3-5 people and practiced our teamwork, vocabulary, writing, and listening skills!

HOMEWORK: 

Students should practice reading (pronouncing the words correctly) and writing the vocabulary words we learned so far. 

EXTRA: 

Down below are hangul (alphabet) that will be helpful during practice and homework:

vowels: 
아 (ah), 야 (yah), 어 (uh), 여 (yuh), 오 (oh), 요 (yoh), 우 (ooh), 유 (yooh), 으 (euh), 이 (ee), 에 (eh), 애 (eh), 와 (wah).

consonants:
ㄱ (G/K), ㄴ (N), ㄷ (D), ㄹ (L), ㅁ (M), ㅂ (B), ㅅ (S), ㅇ (A/O), ㅈ (J), ㅊ (CH), ㅋ (K), ㅌ (T), ㅍ (P), ㅎ (H).
