Next, they reviewed the consonants (ㄱ–ㅎ) and vowels (ㅏ–ㅣ) and practiced combining them to form simple syllables.
For example, they looked at how “그” (ㄱ+ㅡ) and “기” (ㄱ+ㅣ) are formed and how their sounds differ.
They also created “스” and “시,” discussing how these syllables can connect to form meaningful words.
The class then studied Lesson 6 (pp. 78–79: vowels ㅡ & ㅣ) from the textbook, followed by playground and lunch time.
During lunch, the students watched a short “Hangul Hero – ㅏ ㅣ ㅑ” video to naturally review Korean sounds.
After lunch, they played a Consonant Bingo game, using only basic consonants (no double consonants).
The students had fun while reviewing the consonant sounds through the activity.
Finally, with about ten minutes left, they read and discussed the Korean storybook “Who Made This Poop on My Head?”
Through this story, Mrs. Yoo explained the importance of accurate pronunciation in Korean—for example, how the words “똥” (ddong) and “땅” (ttang) sound somewhat similar but have completely different meanings.
This helped the students understand why clear pronunciation matters when speaking Korean.
